Through-Hole Wafer Butterfly Valve–PTFE Seated, OEM

Publish Time: 2026-10-12     Origin: Site

Overview

What if you could maintain a butterfly valve without removing it from the pipeline? That’s the idea behind this through-hole wafer butterfly valve. Instead of threaded lugs, the body has a ring of plain drilled holes. Bolts pass through the valve and both pipe flanges, secured with nuts. It’s a simple change that lowers cost, simplifies alignment, and still delivers a rigid, reliable connection.

But the real advantage goes deeper. The body is split into two halves. When the PTFE seat wears, you don’t replace the whole valve—you separate the halves, swap the seat, and bolt it back together. For chemical plants, pharmaceutical lines, and seawater systems where PTFE seating is essential, that kind of in-line maintenance changes the economics of valve ownership.

This model combines a ductile iron (DI) body to ASTM A536 65-45-12, a polished stainless steel disc (CF8 or CF8M), and a PTFE seat for outstanding chemical resistance. The through-hole mounting pattern follows EN 593 and API 609 design references, with an ISO 5211 top flange for manual or automated operation.

As a direct OEM/ODM manufacturer with over 19 years of export experience, Tianjin Worlds Valve Co., Ltd. delivers fully customizable through-hole wafer butterfly valves–materials, sizes, pressure ratings, flange standards, coatings, and actuators–all tailored to your exact specifications. Our products are exported to more than 50 countries and backed by ISO 9001 (certified by LRQA), CE, UKCA, WRAS, and ACS certifications.

Key Features & Advantages

1. Through-Hole Mounting – Secure Without Threads

  • Lower Cost, Faster Production – Plain drilled holes eliminate threading operations, reducing manufacturing cost and lead time compared to lug-style valves.

  • Secure Bolting – Bolts pass through the valve body and both pipe flanges, secured with nuts. This creates a rigid connection that withstands vibration and pressure surges.

  • Easy Alignment – The through-hole design lets you center the valve between flanges before

2. Split Body Construction – In-Line Maintenance

  • Direct Internal Access – The body splits into two halves, allowing inspection of the disc and seat without removing the valve from the pipeline.

  • Field-Replaceable PTFE Seat – When the seat wears, separate the halves, replace the PTFE seat, and reassemble. No need to replace the entire valve or send it back to the factory.

  • Reduced Downtime – Maintenance that would normally require full valve replacement can be completed in minutes with basic tools.

3. PTFE Seat – Superior Chemical Resistance

  • Excellent Chemical Compatibility – PTFE resists virtually all industrial chemicals, including strong acids, alkalis, solvents, and oxidizers. Unlike EPDM or NBR, it does not degrade in aggressive media.

  • Wide Temperature Range – Maintains sealing properties from -29°C to +160°C (short-term up to +200°C).

  • Low Friction & Non-Stick – PTFE’s low coefficient of friction reduces operating torque and prevents media buildup, simplifying cleaning.

  • Bubble-Tight Shut-Off – Tested to API 598 and EN 12266-1, providing reliable bi-directional sealing.

4. Polished Stainless Steel Disc – Smooth Flow, Easy Cleaning

  • Corrosion Resistance – CF8/CF8M stainless steel resists corrosion in water, chemicals, and aggressive media.

  • Polished Surface – The mirror-polished finish reduces friction, prevents product adhesion, and simplifies cleaning – ideal for pharmaceutical, food, and high-purity applications.

  • Durable & Lightweight – Offers good mechanical strength while keeping the disc weight manageable.

5. Ductile Iron Body–Strength & Durability

  • High Strength–A536 65-45-12 ductile iron offers tensile strength of ≥448 MPa and yield strength of ≥310 MPa, providing reliable performance under pressure surges.

  • Impact Resistance–The nodular graphite structure delivers exceptional toughness, withstanding mechanical shock and pipeline vibration.

  • Corrosion Protection–Combined with standard epoxy coating (250μm minimum), the body resists corrosion in water, wastewater, and general industrial service.

Typical Applications

Through-hole wafer butterfly valves with PTFE seat and polished stainless steel disc are trusted across demanding industries:

  • Chemical Processing–Acids, alkalis, solvents, and aggressive media – PTFE seat resists chemical attack

  • Pharmaceutical Manufacturing–High-purity processes, CIP/SIP systems – polished disc simplifies cleaning

  • Petrochemical–Corrosive fluids, refining, and process lines

  • Water Treatment–Chemical dosing, chlorine, ozone systems

  • Desalination & Marine–Seawater handling, brine transfer – PTFE and stainless steel resist chloride corrosion

  • Food & Beverage–Sanitary applications where product purity is critical

  • Pulp & Paper–Bleaching chemicals, corrosive liquors

FAQ

What is the difference between a through-hole wafer valve and a lug valve?

A lug valve has threaded inserts that bolts screw into. A through-hole valve has plain drilled holes—bolts pass through the valve body and both flanges, secured with nuts. Both provide secure mounting, but through-hole eliminates threading costs and simplifies alignment.

Can the PTFE seat be replaced in the field?

Yes. The split body design allows you to separate the two body halves, remove the old PTFE seat, install a new one, and reassemble—all without removing the valve from the pipeline.

What media is PTFE suitable for?

PTFE is resistant to virtually all industrial chemicals, including strong acids, alkalis, solvents, and oxidizers. It is not recommended for molten alkali metals or elemental fluorine.

What is the pressure rating of this valve?

Standard ratings are PN10 and PN16. Higher ratings are available on request, depending on size and configuration.

Do you offer customization?

Yes. As a direct OEM/ODM manufacturer, we customize materials, sizes, pressure ratings, flange standards, coatings, and actuators to your exact requirements.
